Welcome to a World of Cozy, Sustainable Fashion!

Hello, friends and fellow makers!

I’m thrilled to introduce you to my latest project, “Winter Warmers: Easy, Eco-Friendly Fashion for the Cold Season,” a book filled with fun, simple-to-make patterns designed for everyone—whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced crafter looking for something new. This book is my way of showing that style doesn’t have to come at a high cost—either for your wallet or the planet.

We’re living in a time where fast fashion is everywhere, but the cost of living is rising, and many of us are feeling the pinch. That’s why I’ve put together this guide to creating your own winter wardrobe using recycled fabrics and easy-to-find budget materials. From thrift store finds to old curtains and bedding, you’ll discover how to turn what you already have at home into chic, cozy pieces for the colder months.

You don’t need to be an expert seamstress or have loads of time on your hands—these patterns are quick, simple, and fuss-free. No zips, no buttonholes, no stress! Whether you’re upcycling an old quilt into a poncho or crafting a stylish scarf from a thrifted sweater, you’ll find step-by-step instructions, hand-drawn illustrations, and plenty of creative inspiration.

This isn’t just about making clothes—it’s about embracing a more sustainable, mindful approach to fashion. When we recycle fabrics, we’re not only saving money; we’re helping reduce waste and doing our part for the environment. And guess what? It’s fun, too!

So, if you’ve ever wanted to make your own clothes but didn’t know where to start, this book is for you. Let’s get creative, stay warm, and look fabulous while we do it!

I can’t wait to see what you’ll make. Share your creations with the hashtag #HandmadeWinterStyle on social media—I’ll be keeping an eye out for your fantastic designs!

Stay cozy

Some Days, song lyrics by Sarnia de la Mare for Tale Teller Club

Some Days, song lyrics by Sarnia de la Mare for Tale Teller Club

Some days
There is no mist
I see the moon
With it's promises
It's seductive palms
Caress my mind
And I dream
Of freedom
Some days
The mist descends
Dense and milky
It catches my throat
And the mist says
‘You are blind
And you are deaf
You are invisible
a Deadweight
In my milky power'
Such days as these
I take
To rest

Chorus
We were fighting on the streets
And we were yet unseen
There were guns and bombs and knives
Like we had never seen
We stood our ground
And we held proud
Cos this was not a dream
We took the nights
And held the days
We took them from the ground
Battle-scarred with tender souls
We brought the mountain down

Some days
The shadow comes
It casts its wings
Beneath the sun
The shadow says
you are mine
And you
Are never free
Such days as these
It takes to feast
I see you weep
And I say
Now we fight
For life that's ours

Welcome to This Week’s Toddle Poddle—with me, Vapor Punk!

Bzzz-whirr! Beep-boop! Hey there, kiddos! It’s me, your favorite gadgety-pal, Vapor Punk, and boy-oh-boy, have we got a super-duper-fun-packed-magical-timey issue for you! I’m so excited my gears are doing the happy jig!

First up—hold onto your socks, ‘cause it’s time for another Rainbow Explorers adventure! Join me, Cuddles (the world’s bravest teddy), Lady Lumin (our glowing guide), and Grumble (with the grumpiest but loveliest heart) as we take on the mysterious Maze of Shifting Shadows. Will we dance our way out or tickle our own shadows? You’ll have to read and see! Spoiler alert: there’s lots of silly wiggling!

Next, it’s Episode 2 of the Rat Gang Crew! Our squeaky friends are back with more daring (and slightly cheesy) mischief. What are they up to this time? Burrowing into a cheesy mountain? Escaping from a giant sock thief? Or throwing a party? You’ll find out soon!

Bzzt-bzzz, don’t forget our Quiz Time—where you can test your super skills and giggle your whiskers off. Seriously, if you laugh as much as Grumble did when he saw me slip on a banana peel last week, you’ll have a blast!

AND—I can’t believe it! We’ve even got a No-Cook Recipe that’s so easy, even Cuddles can make it (without making a sticky mess). It’s Rainbow Fruit Pizzas! With all the colors of the rainbow, and you won’t need to turn on a single button, dial, or flame (phew, my gears are tired already).

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive into the adventure together! Ready, set… TODDLE PODDLE GO!!!

Your mechanical pal,
Vapor Punk 🤖

The Rainbow Explorers and the Stormy Sky Mission

One day, the Rainbow Explorers—Vapor Punk, Cuddles, Lady Lumin, and Grumble—were resting in their cozy forest hideaway when dark clouds suddenly rolled in. Lightning crackled, and rain began to pour in thick sheets. But this was no ordinary storm; flashes of rainbow lightning and thunderous roars shook the ground.

Lady Lumin hovered nervously. “This storm feels… wrong. There’s a strange energy in it.”

Vapor Punk nodded, gears whirring with concern. “I’m detecting interference in the atmosphere. Whatever’s causing this, it isn’t natural.”

Just then, a bolt of rainbow lightning struck a nearby tree, splitting it in half. From the charred remains, a shimmering crystal feather emerged, glowing with powerful energy. Before anyone could react, the feather levitated and projected a holographic image—a regal-looking eagle with shimmering feathers.

“I am Aurora, Guardian of the Skies,” the eagle declared, her voice echoing like distant thunder. “The storm you see was unleashed by a rogue weather crystal stolen from my domain. If it is not returned, it will spiral out of control, flooding your lands and shattering the balance of the skies. I need your help to retrieve it.”

The Explorers exchanged determined looks. “We’ll help,” said Grumble, clenching his large fists. “No storm can keep us down.”

Mission to the Sky Realm

Aurora’s crystal feather transformed into a glowing portal. The Explorers stepped through and found themselves in the Sky Realm—a swirling landscape of clouds, rainbows, and floating islands. In the distance, they spotted a dark mass of swirling clouds. “The storm crystal is there,” Aurora explained. “But it’s guarded by a fierce storm serpent named Tempestus.”

The Explorers knew they would need a plan. Together, they traveled to gather allies and information:

  1. At the Cloud Meadows, they met a flock of friendly cloud sheep who granted them puffs of enchanted cloud wool, which could temporarily protect against lightning.
  2. At the Prism Peaks, they met a wise rainbow deer who gave them a shard of rainbow light. “It can illuminate the darkest storm clouds,” the deer said.

Armed with their new tools, they approached the swirling storm. The wind howled and rain lashed down. In the heart of the storm, Tempestus awaited—a colossal serpent with scales of flickering lightning.

Confronting Tempestus

The battle was fierce. Tempestus whipped his tail, sending torrents of rain and gusts of wind at the Explorers. Cuddles, despite his small size, used the cloud wool to shield his friends, and Grumble planted his feet to hold steady. Lady Lumin flew high, distracting Tempestus with bursts of light, while Vapor Punk calculated weaknesses in the serpent’s pattern of movement.

“Together!” cried Vapor Punk. He activated the rainbow shard, casting beams of light through the storm clouds. The light weakened Tempestus, and Grumble hurled a boulder to knock the storm crystal free from the serpent’s coils.

Tempestus let out a roar but quickly calmed as the energy of the crystal faded. Without its influence, the serpent’s eyes softened. “The crystal twisted my mind,” Tempestus hissed, bowing his head. “Thank you for freeing me.”

With Tempestus’s help, they returned the crystal to Aurora. The storm cleared, and sunlight bathed the Sky Realm in a warm glow.

A Sky-High Celebration

To thank them, Aurora hosted a grand feast among the clouds. The Explorers feasted on skyberries and danced with cloud sheep. Before they left, Aurora gifted them each a feather infused with sky magic, promising it would grant them wind-speed travel whenever needed.

As they stepped back through the portal to their forest home, Cuddles grinned. “We make a great storm-busting team, don’t we?”

Vapor Punk adjusted his gears, smiling. “Adventure calls us where we’re needed most.”

Grumble patted his friends on the back, and Lady Lumin’s wings glowed even brighter. Together, they knew that wherever the next challenge appeared, the Rainbow Explorers would be ready.

The Rainbow Explorers and the Maze of Shifting Shadows

The sun was shining brightly in the forest when a curious letter, tied with a strand of shimmering silver thread, fluttered down from the sky. Lady Lumin caught it in midair with her delicate wings and read it aloud to the group.

“Dear Rainbow Explorers,
You are invited to explore the Maze of Shifting Shadows, where only the brave find the light within. Beware—the maze moves, and only those who seek with open hearts will succeed.
Sincerely, The Keeper of Shadows.”

Vapor Punk’s gears clicked. “A moving maze? That sounds like a logic puzzle—and I do love puzzles!”

“Sounds spooky,” Cuddles said, pulling his patchy arm closer to himself. “But exciting too.”

Grumble cracked his knuckles. “A maze can’t stop us.”

With determination, the four set off toward the edge of the Whispering Woods, where the entrance to the maze appeared as an archway made of twisting vines and flickering shadows. As soon as they stepped inside, the maze walls shifted behind them, sealing their path. There was no turning back.

Inside the Maze of Shifting Shadows

The maze was unlike anything they had ever seen. Paths appeared and disappeared, walls moved silently, and the shadows whispered secrets and riddles. The air felt thick, as if every step tested their courage.

Their first challenge came quickly—a wide corridor led to three doors, each inscribed with a symbol: a flame, a droplet, and a star. Above them, words glowed:

“Choose the path that cools the heat without extinguishing the light.”

Lady Lumin’s wings sparkled. “A droplet might seem like the answer, but water can extinguish light.”

“A flame is too dangerous,” Cuddles murmured. “But… what about the star? It lights up the sky but isn’t put out easily.”

They chose the door with the star. It swung open silently, revealing a path forward.

The Shadow Doppelgangers

Not long after, the Explorers came face-to-face with copies of themselves made entirely of shadow. These doppelgangers mirrored every move but with mocking, distorted expressions. Whenever the Explorers moved, their shadows blocked the way forward.

“This is like a mirror trap,” Vapor Punk said, examining his doppelganger. “Maybe we need to break their pattern.”

Lady Lumin flitted up and tried moving unexpectedly, zigzagging and darting through the air. The shadow version followed, but then froze and flickered as it struggled to keep up. Inspired, Cuddles did a silly dance, twirling and hopping. Grumble spun in circles and clapped his hands. Vapor Punk’s gears whirred, and he flipped upside-down using magnetic clamps.

The shadow copies grew weaker with each unpredictable motion until they faded away. The maze walls shifted again, and a soft light guided them further.

The Heart of the Maze

Finally, they arrived at the heart of the maze—a large chamber where shadows converged into a towering figure: The Keeper of Shadows. Her form shimmered like liquid night, with eyes that sparkled like distant stars.

“You have come far, brave ones,” she said. “But to leave, you must confront your greatest fears. Only truth can illuminate the darkest corners.”

The chamber filled with illusions:

  • Vapor Punk saw himself rusting and breaking down, abandoned and useless.
  • Cuddles faced a vision of being left behind by his friends, alone and forgotten.
  • Lady Lumin’s light dimmed as she hovered, unable to pierce the surrounding darkness.
  • Grumble saw himself powerless, unable to protect his friends.

The shadows grew colder, feeding on their doubts. But one by one, they spoke out:

  • “I am more than gears; I’m a friend who learns and grows,” Vapor Punk said, sparking with energy.
  • “I’m never truly alone as long as I have hope,” Cuddles whispered, holding his heart.
  • “Light always finds a way, even in the darkest night,” Lady Lumin declared, glowing fiercely.
  • “Courage comes from the heart, not just strength,” Grumble roared, standing tall.

With their words, the illusions shattered, and the Keeper of Shadows softened. “You have proven that even in the darkest times, light and courage prevail. You may leave freely.”

The maze walls melted away, revealing a path back to the forest.

Back in the Forest

The Rainbow Explorers emerged from the maze, tired but triumphant. In their hands, they each held a fragment of crystalized shadow—proof of their journey and a reminder that darkness only strengthens those who dare to confront it.

“Next time, maybe a sunny meadow adventure?” Cuddles asked, grinning.

Vapor Punk chuckled. “Where’s the fun in that?”

The Explorers laughed and walked toward their next adventure, ready for whatever challenges awaited.

No-Cook Recipe: Rainbow Fruit Pizzas!

Brought to you by Vapor Punk and the Rainbow Explorers (with Cuddles taste-testing every bite!)

You Will Need:

  • 1 whole-grain tortilla, pita bread, or rice cake (your choice!)
  • 2-3 tablespoons of cream cheese, yogurt, or nut butter (your “pizza sauce”!)
  • A rainbow of fruit, sliced into fun shapes:
    • Red: Strawberries, raspberries, or watermelon
    • Orange: Mandarin oranges or mango slices
    • Yellow: Banana slices or pineapple chunks
    • Green: Kiwi slices, grapes, or apple wedges
    • Blue: Blueberries
    • Purple: Grapes or blackberries

Optional Fun Stuff: Sprinkles, shredded coconut, or a tiny drizzle of honey for extra zing!

How to Make It:

  1. Spread Your “Pizza Sauce”:
Grab your tortilla, pita, or rice cake base. Use a spoon to spread your cream cheese, yogurt, or nut butter all over one side. Don’t be shy—this is what holds all the fruity goodness in place!

  2. Create Your Rainbow:
Time to get creative! Arrange your fruit slices on top in rainbow order. Start with red at the top, then move through orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Make lines, shapes, or a big smiley face!

  3. Add Extra Magic (Optional):
Sprinkle a dash of shredded coconut for a “cloudy” touch, or add a little drizzle of honey for sparkle! Cuddles thinks rainbow sprinkles are a great touch too (he’s got a sweet tooth, after all).

  4. Chomp and Enjoy!
Ta-da! Your Rainbow Fruit Pizza is ready. Take a big bite and taste the rainbow—no ovens, no heat, just lots of smiles and healthy fun!

Tip from Grumble: “Don’t forget napkins, ‘cause this can get messy! But the best kind of messy.”

What do you think? Ready to add some fruity fun to this week’s issue? 🍓🍍🥝

Strata 3, Book of Immersion V1, Flex and the Robo-Dog (Making Decisions)

Welcome to Immersion
You have reached strata 3.

Decisions are the cusp between reality and possibility. Decisive actions create a continuously evolving universe for sentient beings where fate can immobilise actions and defeat progress. The decision-makers hold power over themselves, and, more often than not, over others.

Androids programmed to learn can aid decision-making when dealing with complex data, intricate parameters, and variables that surpass human understanding.
Often they excel at making accurate choices within their defined boundaries. However, an android will not excel in addressing intangible
aspects of human decision-making. Ethical dilemmas, moral considerations, and other human factors that significantly influence our lives and shape society are neither considered nor understood by a machine.

****

Maybeline was sitting on Renyke's shoulder cleaning herself. Renyke collected bugs from the alley and analysed their chemical and biological structure.

There was a bag next to where he had woken, a large backpack, beside a long leather coat. Renyke took some time to look in the bag attempting to remember how he had arrived in the alley. Nothing seemed familiar.

'What are all these things?' he asked the POS.

These are standard-issue SAS munitions from the 21st century.....

It occurred to Renyke that he could interrogate the POS for more information.

'Why am I here?
Where have I come from?'

There was a long pause before the POS answered.

...I do not have access to that information. My software was set to launch when we arrived. There is no accessible historical data at my disposal...

Catching himself in a window reflection Renyke put on the dark glasses he had found in the pocket of the coat.

'We look pretty good Maybeline,' he remarked, surprised by his unfamiliar vanity.

Mabeline nestled into Renyke's neck as they left the relative safety of the alley and entered the foreboding street.

They were in the centre of a busy metropolis. There was a lot of activity with people shouting, bartering goods and moving quickly about the place. There were small groups of brightly dressed individuals congregating around stationary vehicles. Some were smoking pipes. Small hazy clouds hovered above them trapping the weak rays of the sun. The towering semi-derelict buildings created shadowy corners where small fires provided more light and warmth.

The vehicles appeared to be a mix of old-fashioned motorised cabins from transportation systems and helicopters. There were some long-legged hybrids; electric solar-engine mashups that looked like menacing metal insects.
Renyke's detectors showed the air comprised mostly of oxygen with low levels of other chemicals: chlorine, sulfur, silicone, fluorine polymers and plasticisers.

'Hey, dude from the *Brightside, you want some *nibs?'

A man hovered expectantly, somewhat close for comfort. He looked dishevelled but alert as he checked all directions avoiding eye contact with Renyke.

Renyke checked POS for 'nibs'.

......A drug used by nearly half the world's population that creates euphoria and doubles strength for a limited period. Overdose can cause temporary and permanent coma. Long-term effects; brain rot......

'How much?' asked Renyke, whose algorithm was set to absorb all information about humans.

'I can do you a deal' said the man, '50 *bits.... Or the Rat'.

Renyke checked the POS for bits.

.....Bits: street talk for gold, silver, uranium and other metal nuggets used in the black and grey economy without government authority....

'I have no bits,' said Renyke.

'Hahahahahaha'.........' see you in hell brother!' shouted the man as he danced away on long legs and a demeanour that seemed at odds with his situation.

In the midcasts, happiness came with security and expectation. digital and technological lives were formatted for predictability and reliability. The present and the future were reliable and predictable. Although Renyke was struggling to remember the details of his purpose here,, he knew very well that this place was different.

A fat man in a fur coat whistled.

'Hey girly, you want some dirty action? I'll take that rodent off your hands if you need some sexy time.'

A warning comes from the POS.

.....Danger! Immediate! Ground Level!....

A robot dog was barking loudly at Maybeline who was now snarling and making a shrieking noise.

For a fraction of a second Renyke analysed all the variables and consequences of his next actions.

The options were endless. The POS created a fleeting map of the most probable scenarios and outcomes that sprawled a multidimensional time map like a mathematical cobweb which Renyke was able to analyse in the tiniest fraction of time.

He could immobilise the robo-dog, tame it and use it, sell it, break it up, separate its useful component parts, analyse its database for information, absorb its operating system, or, he could simply ignore it.

Renyke began to ponder his skill set remembering that he was an excellent chess player. Single decisions about actions that he could make foresaw a million possibilities. Theoretically, this allowed for finely tuned activities and performance with very little or zero harm caused to his previous owners. Indeed, this forward-thinking ability had marked machines as superior in operation to humans who were narrow thinkers and only able to make selfish and immediate decisions based on emotional desire without reference to consequences.

The robo-dog opened its mouth and bit Renyke's ankle.
