EDACO is not just a warehouse stamp. In the Immersion universe it is a moral verdict dressed as inventory language.Calling a drone or android component obsolete pretends the question is technical: outdated sensors, superseded cores, failed specs. The real question is who gets to decide that a manufactured being — or the fragment of one — no longer counts.Obsolescence as erasure.
Once something is tagged EDACO, its original purpose is written off. That is convenient for Metacoms and CASM. Early fusion experiments, emotion-leaking units, Cadre off-books prototypes, and machines that developed inconvenient interiority can be filed as scrap instead of acknowledged as failed ethics. Classification becomes a way to avoid responsibility: if it is obsolete, no one has to answer for what it felt, remembered, or refused.
