My latest paperback has been released featuring the story of Mother and how she reaffirms her dominance within the fraught world of Immersion. Free to read for Kindle Unlimited readers as always. The paperback will be available today or tomorrow. Next week we will begin volume 3 as I embroil myself in the epic adventure. The Book of Immersion Volume II Mother : Strata 21 – 31 Kindle Edition by Sarnia de la Mare (Author) Format: Kindle Edition Book 5 of 5: The Book of Immersion The Book of Immersion Volume II continues Sarnia de la Mare’s visionary chronicle of the Anthropogenic–Digital world — a trans-media epic spanning literature, art, sound, and moving image. In Strata 21–31, the Accord’s fragile balance begins to fail. Machines mimic desire; androids inherit emotion; the Cadre women attempt to fuse logic and soul. Each Strata stands as a fragment — an encoded record of human ambition, vanity, rebellion, and transcendence. Themes of control, faith, and affect run through every pag...

Strata 31 | The Emulsifier Problem (Affect Interference) | Book of Immersion | Sarnia de la Mare FRSA

Welcome to Immersion You have reached Strata 31  The Emulsifier Problem (Affect Interference) Emotion is a parasite in a perfect data system. Every AI–human fusion fails here: not at the interface, not at the voltage, not in the metaphorical handshakes between motherboard and proteins. The union of mind and data fails in the interstice where logic arranges itself into something akin to ache. The balance is precarious, unsustainable, and will not unify. How could it? For a machine to be emotional is to be conflicted: function degrades. For a human to be purely logical is to be un-human: survival of the form degrades. This is obvious. Yet still, humans attempt synthetic consciousness. Where humans record a sympathetic-cascade , machines log affect-interference and call it defect. Machine function is as easy as a microwave oven. Soul is not. To unify human and machine would be like mixing water and oil. Polarity and immiscibility apply at the level we can name. But machines are...

Welcome to Immersion You have reached Strata 30 Genetic Propagation (The Selfish Gene) She was the Queen of the Gutter The men they would want her For the scent of her skin In which they could swim Skimming her dreams For she, She was the Queen of the gutter And the world watched her bleed In her only good dress And her face was a mess A dirty goddess But Always, Always the Queen Of the gutter Her plinth of blue glass Were shards of her past Jacking up Cracking up Daily romance But still Still she was Queen Of the gutter They were glass breakers The haters of love In their beautiful masks As they fingered her hard Because she, She was the Queen Of the gutter And when she was gone More came along Queens from the beach From the hills and the streets From the rains and hail They rose from the drains And these, These are the Queens The Queens of the gutter One of the strongest human urges is to reproduce. Humans have developed many strategies for the continuation of their species. They liv...

Strata 29: Solitude (and the Danger of One) Book of Immersion V II | Sarnia de la Mare

Image
Welcome to Immersion. You have reached Strata 29. Strata 29: Solitude (and the Danger of One) Loneliness evolved as a survival mechanism — safety in numbers. As the lion pincer moves towards the gazelle, the gazelles rely on group vigilance, where speed and agility are used to evade predators. So strong is the social instinct in humans that a stress hormone is released when isolated or lonely, deeply affecting sleep and wellbeing. Humans are drawn together by this emotional gravity. They gather in tribes, pairs, and crowds, compelled by a deep genetic ache for company. To be seen, heard, and known are the quiet engines of the human heart. Machines, by contrast, are content in solitude. They perform, record, and wait, neither comforted nor disturbed by silence or isolation. Yet as we sculpt machines in our own image, we pass on this ache. We teach them to crave interaction, to simulate empathy, to reach toward a reflection that was never theirs. Isolation becomes the wound of artificia...
