Minor Matter by iServalan

New Release: MINOR MATTER (Music Film)

Studio Notes — iServalan Digitalia

I’ve just released Minor Matter, my first widescreen music film as iServalan — and the first of many to come. This one has a special place in the Immersion universe because it was one of the earliest musical ideas I ever wrote for The Book of Immersion. The poem poured out of me during one of those “machine vs. human” weeks, and I realised it described the emotional engine of the whole world I’ve been building.

I filmed the visuals in that classic neon–Immersion style: dark, moody, slow camera pulls, flicker, texture, the suggestion of a narrative without forcing one. It’s widescreen 4K but still looks great vertically, which I wasn’t expecting. The track itself is a blend of live instruments and digital grit — cello, viola, piano, and electronic interference.

This music-video strand has been on my mind for a while. I love the idea of taking what would normally be a soundtrack and letting it stand as a piece of cinema in its own right. It’s intimate but also part of a bigger fictional world. I’m going to make more of these — daily selfies, studio sessions, little reels of me playing the four instruments — and fold them into the build-up of the Immersion Cinema archive.

You can watch Minor Matter now on YouTube. It’s in the new Music iServalan Videos playlist that I’ll keep adding to throughout the year.
