Blink Friction Manifesto

Blink Friction Arts — Manifesto

Blink Friction Arts was founded by Sarnia de la Maré in 2025 as an independent studio movement rooted in reuse, experimentation, and cultural salvage.

The project emerged from working with limited resources in a period of rising living costs and shrinking access to creative materials. Many Blink Friction works are created using reclaimed, surplus, failed, or discarded stock — vinyl records, test prints, manuscripts, packaging, and rescued paper — transformed through layering, mark-making, and symbolic systems into unique artefacts.

Blink Friction rejects the idea that artistic value comes from expensive materials, elite spaces, or opaque pricing structures.
Value comes from attention, labour, risk, and meaning.

The studio operates through multiple channels:

• Open auctions and low-cost releases, designed to keep original art in circulation and accessible
• Signature and archive-level works, developed over time
• A print and merchandise line produced in collaboration with Tale Teller Club Press, making selected works available as affordable editions
• Ongoing experimental and research-led practice

The auction model is central to the project’s ethics.
It avoids the artificial scarcity, gatekeeping, and inflated language of high-end art marketing. Instead, it allows collectors, students, and first-time buyers to engage directly with the work on equal terms.

Some pieces are released for 99p.
Others develop into long-form, high-value works.

Both are essential.

Blink Friction operates as a living system rather than a fixed brand. Each piece forms part of a wider archive of practice, process, and cultural response. The studio remains intentionally open, informal, and human — resisting pretension in favour of clarity and honesty.

Alongside original works, Blink Friction supports ethical resale and reuse of creative materials and artworks, extending the life of objects and images within a sustainable creative economy.

In the long term, the project aims to collaborate with and support other artists working under similar conditions, building a small-scale cooperative network rooted in independence, skill, and shared resources.

Blink Friction Arts is not mass production.
It is not luxury branding.

It is cultural salvage —
transforming overlooked materials into meaningful objects, and keeping art in public circulation.

About Blink Friction, A Reclaimed Art Project by Sarnia de la Maré FRSA

Blink Friction is a long-running symbolic and process-led art practice by Sarnia de la Maré, working with reclaimed materials, archival fragments, and personal sigil systems.

The work brings together early stencil practice, salvage aesthetics, and contemporary mark-making to explore memory, identity, and feminine power across time.

Each piece functions as both artefact and transmission — uniting past and present through layered surfaces, symbols, and material history.

Tale Teller Club Press Editorial Mission

Tale Teller Club Press (TTCP) is an independent publishing imprint dedicated to thoughtful cultural work across writing, image, and sound.

We publish material that observes the world with clarity, wit, and ethical attention—work that resists spectacle in favour of understanding, and urgency in favour of depth. TTCP exists to give sustained creative practice a coherent home, allowing ideas to unfold across different forms while remaining rooted in a shared editorial spine.

Our work is shaped by three interlocking modes of expression:

  • Writing — essays, books, and reflections that engage with neurodivergence, relationships, pleasure, labour, politics, creativity, and the conditions of contemporary life. We value accessibility without simplification, seriousness without solemnity, and expertise without authority-performance.

  • Drawing & Visual Satire — images that distil complex realities into symbols, humour, and critique. These works are not decorative but communicative, offering visual entry points into political and social conversation.

  • Sound & Composition — music and sonic works that explore time, emotion, and atmosphere beyond language. These compositions function as parallel thinking: reflective, textural, and enduring.

TTCP does not chase trends, outrage cycles, or algorithmic novelty. We are interested in slow relevance: work that remains readable, usable, and meaningful beyond its moment of release. We believe cultural value is built cumulatively, through consistency of voice and integrity of intent.

Our editorial values include:

  • Respect for lived experience, especially where it has been misunderstood, marginalised, or medicalised

  • A commitment to clarity, compassion, and intellectual honesty

  • An understanding of creativity as a lifelong practice, not a finite career phase

  • Independence from institutional pressure, commercial sensationalism, and performative expertise

Tale Teller Club Press operates as a curated practice, not a content factory. Each publication, image, or composition is released because it belongs—because it contributes to an ongoing conversation rather than interrupting one.

TTCP exists for readers, listeners, and viewers who value work that is intelligent, humane, and quietly radical; and for creators who understand that the most durable cultural contributions are made not at speed, but with care.

The Continuum Music Framework

by Sarnia de la Maré FRSA

The Continuum Music Framework is an open, adaptive pedagogy for musical learning, designed to support musicians of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Rather than promoting pressure, competition, or rigid outcomes, the Framework offers a humane, inclusive approach that recognises learning as a living process—one shaped by individuality, environment, and emotional safety.

Rooted in contemporary pedagogical thinking and decades of artistic practice, the Continuum Music Framework works alongside existing methods rather than replacing them. It encourages musical confidence through clarity, agency, and early creative engagement, including composition as a central part of learning from the very beginning.

Each book in the series explores a different layer of the Framework.
Part I, Foundations, introduces The Continuum Approach—a gentle yet rigorous entry point that focuses on mindset, environment, pacing, and the conditions that allow learning to take root. Later volumes expand into structures, studies, and applied pathways, supported by optional scores, diagrams, and teaching tools available separately.

The Continuum Music Framework is intended for independent learners, educators, parents, and returning musicians alike. It is not a method to be mastered, but a framework to grow within—one that values curiosity over compliance, and continuity over perfection.
