Let's go Swimming

One day in May

The sadness came

I couldn’t take the pain 

The sea was cold

I felt so old

As faith had left, again

The heaviness of water

Sat upon my bones

As I sank into the darkness 

and said goodbye to home

Breathe! Breathe! they cried 

as the reaper drew my soul

And all around the creatures watched 

as my thickening blood ran cold

Was death the end I wondered?

As I touched the ocean floor

I saw a life before me 

and I knew I wanted more

So breathe I did, again, again 

and the salty sea filled fast

My body fought for the air I knew 

and I was sure to breathe my last

Angels of hell and water babes 

inhabited the blue

Come they said let’s take a ride

for we have chosen you

And so it passed, my body changed 

I'm a warrior of the deep 

Filled with hope and glory,

my best new life to keep

We lead the babes to mothers 

thrown from  the ships of slaves

Who seek their babies in weeds

Whose tears become the waves

The suicides and fated

Who’s lives were taken fast

The souls who cry for longing

We give their hopes a chance

To seek a peace more certain

Than that they lost on land

Where God and kin forsake them

Where no one held their hand

 Seed

I walk on effervescent dreams I am a Seed An idea Sometimes a weed (think Andrew Tate) I can grow better with nutrients and patience I’m always here But sometimes I’m latent Or worse, ignored (think women, children and the underclasses) Without help I can die easily or not grow freely because I am Costly (think enlightenment) I am everywhere Here and there in seas in air on land forever Close and near at hand (think creativity) I can be stored don’t get confused just keep me safe for later use when conditions are right plant me then and I will grow with all my might (think keep in a box under the bed) ©2024 Marchioness of Dorchester, Sarnia de la Maré FRSA #poems #poetry #poetrylovers #art #illustrations #saatchi #idea #seed #illustration #writers #writerslift #writesoftwitter #author

Standard Dreams

In my gothic dreams

I am a dark princess

with a pet bat

and

obviously a 

a black 

cat

I can cast

hideous spells

on men

(and women)

who wrong me

because it isn’t fine

when they are mean

to me 

online

Trolls

die

as soon as they leave the building

straight

under a bus

no fuss

for I have 

the power

just one look

can make them cower

In my pink dreams

I am an angel

who forgives

feeds the poor

always gives

with

wings

of love 

plus,

I sing

mostly on a cloud

floating 

randomly

from above

She

She sits so proud

So straight of neck,

not bowed

not low but high

like 

birds

on wings

so sleek,

not weak

just there

where

she belongs

Her face 

so strong

Her arms like

crains

they take the strain

of those who

dare to

say her name

She walks

on air 

the breathe that

others

only breath

she steals

to make 

her rise

She does not

heed

their lies

She climbs 

on walls

their walls of hate

wont hold her in

she will not fall

She stands

so

tall

For she is she

and 

She 

Will 

Be
